Scaffolding Engineering and Design for BC Projects
Non-standard geometry, unusual loads or a structure that cannot take conventional ties all point the same way: the design has to be settled before the first frame lands.
- Layouts and load paths worked out before the install
- Tie schedules for structures that will not take a standard anchor
- Drawings prepared for review where the job calls for them
- Design and installation from the same contractor

When a scaffold needs engineering
A scaffold needs engineered design when it goes outside the manufacturer's standard configuration: unusual heights, cantilevers or bridged spans, heavy imposed loads, wrapped elevations that pick up wind, or a structure that cannot take conventional ties. In BC that design work is documented, and the drawings are what an inspection asks to see when the scaffold is not a standard build.
What the job includes
Everything below runs under the same contract as the scaffolding engineering.
Concept and layout
How the scaffold gets around the building, where it lands, and how the trades reach the work.
Loads and ties
Imposed loads, wind on wrapped faces, and a tie schedule the structure can actually accept.
Documentation
Drawings and details prepared for review where the configuration calls for them.
Build to the drawing
The crew that erects it works to the design, and changes on site go back through it.
Where it fits
Engineering usually enters the picture before the quote hardens, not after.
Heritage and sensitive structures
Facades that will not take conventional anchors and need an alternative load path.
Bridged and cantilevered access
Spanning entrances, lanes and rooflines where the scaffold cannot land on grade.
Wrapped elevations
Containment turns a scaffold into a sail. The tie schedule has to account for it.
Questions we get
What contractors ask before booking scaffolding engineering.
Can you provide design and engineering?
Yes, we can. We use a very responsible approach to the selection of designers and engineers. Our specialists devote most of their time to safety, and the design is what the crew builds to.
Do you work on scaffolds other contractors will erect?
Talk to us about the job. Our design work normally comes with the install so the drawing and the build stay with the same contractor.
How early should we bring you in?
As early as the elevations exist. Design decisions made before the quote hardens are far cheaper than the ones made six weeks into the job.
Often booked together
One contract and one crew covers more than one of these on the same site.
Need scaffolding engineering on your site?
Send drawings or a site address and we will come back with an estimate in one to three business days.
